Arvo Pärt is one of the world’s most performed living composers. Fratres, his haunting soundscape for strings and percussion, sets the scene for a very special world premiere - The Tides of Longing by Lachlan Skipworth and Jay Emmanuel, the story of a young refugee’s voyage and memories of home.

Fate lies at the heart of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth, a thrilling journey from anguish to elation. Following his WASO debut in 2022, Eduardo Strausser returns to conduct this enthralling concert.

Lachlan Skipworth’s The Tides of Longing commissioned for WASO by Geoff Stearn & private Song Book supporter. Libretto adapted from Jay Emmanuel’s play Children of the Sea, originally presented by Encounter Theatre.

We will do everything in our power to present the program listed but we may have to vary the repertoire or artists. If that happens, we will let you know.
