Inspire the next generation of young musicians with our exciting 2025 Education Program. From interactive incursions to full symphony orchestra concerts, WASO has a range of engaging learning experiences available to students of all ages and skill levels.

In 2025, your students will have the opportunity to experience WASO at a range of iconic venues around Perth including UWA’s Winthrop Hall, the State Theatre Centre of WA, and even at your school.

Our 2025 program aims to inspire your students’ learning and participation in music by offering tailored opportunities to engage with world renowned soloists, conductors, and the talented musicians of their State Orchestra.

NextGen: Explore ATAR & More

Led by WASO Associate Conductor, Jen Winley, and presented by Dr Ashley Smith, this engaging concert focuses on the ATAR set works, outlining key techniques used by the composers and detailed analysis of the works.

Suitable for Year 9 – Year 12 students.

A Guide to Film Music: John Williams

Join WASO and conductor Nicholas Buc to discover the music of one of the world’s favourite film composers, John Williams. Dan Golding and Andrew Pogson from the Art of the Score podcast will guide students through the music, focusing on how composers can bolster storytelling through their compositions.

Suitable for Year 4 – Year 12 students.

Libby Meets the Orchestra

Perth’s leading jazz vocalist, Libby Hammer, and WASO’s 11-piece Education Chamber Orchestra are bringing a fun and engaging primary school incursion your way. With a mix of familiar classics and contemporary genres, this performance will explore important composers, how music is made, and what it takes to be a musician.

Suitable for K – Year 6 students.

Matinee Concerts

These one-hour performances are the ideal way to introduce students to orchestral music.

Open Rehearsals

Join WASO as we throw open the doors, inviting students to join the Orchestra at rehearsal. An optional pre-rehearsal talk provides an overview of the works and the musicians’ experience preparing for a rehearsal and performance.
