WA’s largest free end-of-year family concert returns to RAC Arena for another year with two performances on Saturday 9th December 2023 at 2pm and 7pm.

Presented by WASO with support from Lotterywest and City of Perth, the sing-a-long Spectacular will bring festive cheer for the whole family with classical music, seasonal hits and songs from some of WASO’s favourite Christmas movies.

This year’s production features over 150 musicians live on stage with an all star cast of soloists including actor and singer Ben Mingay, soprano Prudence Sanders, multi-genre vocalist Sophie Foster, musical duo Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse alongside the musicians of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and WASO Chorus, with a visit from the ultimate special guest of the season, Santa.

“Once again we have a fantastic line-up of talented performers joining your State Orchestra to celebrate Christmas and bring joy to all at this special time of the year. There is no better way to get into the spirit of the festive season than enjoying great Christmas music and singing your favourite carols with WASO.” – Paul Shannon, WASO CEO

Conductor Jen Winley will lead the performers while musical theatre star and host, Genevieve McCarthy, brings the Christmas cheer.

As well as mass orchestral and choral forces, audiences can expect LED screens, pyrotechnics, costume changes, lighting displays and exceptional sound from WASO’s biggest event of the year.

“I’m looking forward to donning my Santa hat and warming up my voice to sing some carols this year, and I know everyone else will be too. WASO’s fantastic event is supported by a $297,289 grant from Lotterywest, the only government-owned and operated lottery in Australia, which helps more people around WA access and appreciate the amazing talents of WA artists.” – Minister for Culture and the Arts, David Templeman.

The concerts will provide plenty of opportunities for families to sing along to carolling favourites including Aussie Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, alongside fully orchestrated pop and movie hits including Kelly Clarkson’s Underneath the Tree, Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You and Let It Go from ‘Frozen’.

Tickets are free for West Australians of all ages, but must be booked online via the WASO or Ticketek websites.

“The West Australian Symphony Orchestra brings the magic of Christmas to the City for another year – we can’t wait to welcome thousands of people for this festive spectacular. With amazing events like this, it’s clear - Christmas lives here” – Lord Mayor of City of Perth, Basil Zempilas.

Jen Winley is supported by the Simon Lee Foundation.
