Listen Now: Beethoven Piano Concertos
06.02.2026
In 2025, WASO was proud to welcome back Czech pianist Lukáš Vondráček, Acclaimed worldwide for his insightful musicianship and incredible virtuosity, for an exciting week of concerts. Along with the full Orchestra and under the baton of Principal Conductor Asher Fisch, Vondráček performed Beethoven’s mighty Piano Concertos, journeying from the wistful youth and romance of his First to the majestic grandeur of his Fifth.
For the first time in seven years, Australian audiences were able to experience the full cycle of Beethoven’s ground-breaking Piano Concertos performed by a single soloist and orchestra. Now you can relive it all in three parts on ABC Classic.
Beethoven: The Maverick
In this concert, the first of three, WASO performs Beethoven’s Creatures of Prometheus Overture before Vondráček wows with the composer’s First and Third Piano Concertos.
Beethoven: The Master
In this concert, the second of three, WASO performs the Egmont Overture and Vondráček takes to the spotlight for Beethoven’s Second and Fourth Piano Concertos.
Beethoven: The Emperor
In the final concert, Vondráček performs the Fifth of the great composer’s monumental works, the beloved Emperor Concerto.
The concert opens with the Zur Namensfeier Overture and also includes a fabulous rendition of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1.
