Exciting Next Steps for Perth’s Favourite Venue
17.12.2025
Major construction works will commence in early 2026, ushering in the next phase of the project to restore and rejuvenate the heritage-listed Perth Concert Hall. This follows the completion of the demolition of the southern forecourt and car park in 2025, laying the groundwork for the transformation ahead.
The WA Government has also announced an additional $23 million investment into the project, ensuring the full scope of works can be delivered on schedule, bringing total funding for the redevelopment to $173.3 million. This commitment reflects a strong belief in the future of the arts in Western Australia and the enduring role of Perth Concert Hall as a world-class destination for music and performance.
The redevelopment will create a more welcoming experience for all visitors. Inside the Hall, audiences and artists alike can look forward to new bar and event spaces, upgraded seating, lighting and backstage facilities, and remodelled entries, stairs and lifts providing significant improvements to accessibility.
Importantly, the project will preserve what makes Perth Concert Hall so special – its distinctive character and internationally-renowned acoustics that continue to attract leading artists and productions from around the world.
This landmark project is made possible through the combined support of government and industry partners, including $127.3 million from the WA Government, $12 million from the Australian Government, $4 million from the City of Perth, and $30 million from Woodside through the Resources Community Investment Initiative (RCII).
We extend our sincere thanks to all project funding partners for their leadership, vision, and commitment to Western Australia’s creative future. Their support is helping to strengthen our cultural infrastructure, support creative careers, and grow WA’s creative industries for generations to come.
The reopening of Perth Concert Hall is planned for the beginning of 2028.
We are deeply grateful to our subscribers, donors, audiences, and partners who have continued to support us during this time out of the Hall. Your belief in WASO and in the power of live orchestral music makes milestones like this possible.
As construction begins and the vision takes shape, we look forward to welcoming you back to a renewed Perth Concert Hall in 2028 – a place where music, community, and creativity will flourish for the next century and beyond.
