After Franz Kafka
Philip GLASS The Trial
Christopher Hampton libretto/text
Based on the novel by Franz Kafka
The system knows you better than yourself. Kafka’s nightmarish world comes alive in Philip Glass’ The Trial, an Australian premiere with Lost and Found Opera. Arrested for an unnamed crime, Josef K. is swept through a surreal maze of bureaucracy. Jarred Wall leads a stellar cast in this thrilling, darkly comic production, directed by Melissa Cantwell and conducted by Mark Coughlan. Glass’ hypnotic score pulses with suspense, irony and haunting beauty.
Presented by Lost and Found Opera and Perth Festival in association with West Australian Opera and West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
