Grief, joy and triumph.

Lauded for drawing a precise and sensitive balance of joy and sorrow through his music, Estonian conductor Hendrik Vestmann returns to Perth following a triumphant season with Barrie Kosky's The Magic Flute. Here, he explores the agonies and ecstasies of fate in Tchaikovsky’s irresistible Fifth Symphony, journeying from a bleak funeral march to a powerful conclusion. We open with the kaleidoscopic textures of Esa-Pekka Salonen’s Nyx, named after the Greek Goddess of the night.
