As the State Orchestra, Perth’s first and finest, WASO is the largest employer of performing artists in Western Australia and reaches two million people with musical experiences each year on stage, in our community, and online.

The Orchestra collaborates widely with major arts companies and independent artists, performing opera to ballet, movies to musicals, jazz to rock. The Role

The West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) is seeking an experienced and motivated fundraiser to work as a key member of the WASO Development team to manage and develop a range of corporate partnerships and government grants in order to maintain and generate important support. Joining WASO at an exciting time, the Partnerships & Grants Specialist will account manage key relationships with current sponsors and government partners and will collaborate confidently with a broad range of colleagues and external stakeholders.

Leading on the delivery and day-to-day management of several of the WASO’s most strategic partnerships, you will work with the Director of Development to create compelling cases for support and to engage with and cultivate new corporate supporters to join the WASO and make an important contribution to the Orchestra’s success and ambitious vision for the future.

Skills Required

To be successful, you will need to have tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, business or equivalent, demonstrated experience, successful sponsorship or client account management experience in a similar role or agency.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Outstanding written and interpersonal skills with a strong capacity to communicate with authenticity to corporate partners
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating and servicing partnerships
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the end-to-end cycle of corporate partnerships, including procurement, servicing and client management, reporting and renewal
  • Demonstrated experience in grant writing applications and acquittals
  • Exceptional organisational and administrative skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in the current version of the Microsoft Office suite
