If you have always wanted to find out more about our Education & Community Engagement program and are interested in getting the inside scoop on their vision and impact, we would like to invite you to attend our inaugural Education & Community Engagement Briefing on Monday 18 March at Perth Concert Hall. This briefing will provide an informative and inspiring presentation from the mastermind of WASO’s education initiatives, Executive Manager of Community Engagement, Cassandra Lake together with much-loved Tutti Viola, Helen Tuckey. This event will be free of charge, include light refreshments and be a great chance to kick start your WASO social year with fellow WASO lovers.

Join us to watch the Orchestra’s rehearsal of our Classics 2 concert, Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody, before hearing from experienced solicitor Steven Brown from Lynn & Brown Lawyers. Come and learn invaluable insights into how to get the best out of your estate and how to avoid the typical pitfalls for writing wills, whilst enjoying coffee and cake with fellow WASO supporters. This won’t be a dry, legal lecture but a light hearted seminar aiming to demystify estate planning!

If you have specific questions around property, overseas concerns or other matters important to you, you are welcome to forward your topic along with your seminar registration and Steven will aim to cover these during his presentation.

The first Patrons & Friends event for 2019 will kick off the year with style, music and art at the beautiful Holmes à Court Gallery @ no.10.

WASO Tutti Horn, Julia Brooke, in conversation with Janet Holmes à Court AC, will take us on a journey recounting her exciting recent trip to the United States supported by the 2018 Friends of WASO Scholarship, before ending with a short recital on the Horn. This exclusive evening at the brand new Holmes à Court Gallery @ no.10 in West Perth will then move on to a different art form with Professor Clarissa Ball (UWA) providing an introduction to the stunning Harald Vike collection on display, part of which is on loan from the Janet Holmes à Court Collection.  

Tickets are $45 ($55 for guests) and include a glass of wine and light refreshments.

Andrew Tait – The Life of a Luthier

 luthier (/ˈluːtiər/) Someone who builds or repairs string instruments.

Join us to hear from WASO Tutti Double Bass, Andrew Tait, about his double life as one of Australia’s most sought-after master luthiers and instrument makers.

Andrew, who has made instruments for most of the WASO Double Bass section, our EChO ensemble, as well as our Principal Cello, Rod McGrath, will speak about his experience as a Luthier, the characteristics of certain instruments and the tricks of the trade! Andrew will also open the evening with a fascinating recital on his very own Violone (early Baroque string instrument).

Tickets are $30 for Patrons & Friends ($35 for guests) and include a glass of wine.

Its back! Join us for an incredible evening of jazz with WASO’s Principal Flute, Andrew Nicholson and renowned Perth jazz vocalist, Ali Bodycoat, as they interpret the music of Michel LeGrand.

In 2019 we are delighted to return the World Artist Dinner to our calendar of events and thrilled to announce our star for the evening as the 2019 WASO Artist in Association, Siobhan Stagg.

The other star of the evening will be our new venue, the delightful Ambrose Estate in Wembley, which will provide you with a three course meal and beautiful Margaret River wines while you listen to Siobhan and her interesting life stories as a world artist.

This will sell out, so book early to avoid disappointment! Tickets are $120 (early bird $110 till 30 June 2019) and include a three course dinner and refreshments throughout the evening.
