There are several ways of leaving a bequest:
- Specific Bequest
Nominating a dollar amount, or an expressed percentage of an estate to go to WASO. This can include real estate, shares and assets or gifts in kind.
- Residuary Bequest
Designating all or a portion of an estate to pass to WASO after all other beneficiaries have been recognised and settlement costs are paid. This means your loved ones are looked after as well as the Orchestra.
- Contingent Bequest
Indicating all or a portion of an estate to pass to WASO only if the natural beneficiaries do not survive the Bequestor.
- Revisionary Bequest
Allowing a surviving partner to benefit from your estate during their lifetime, with the balance of their estate to be paid to WASO once they pass away.

Dr Glenda Campbell-Evans
WASO Patron & Bequestor
"We benefit from the talents, foresight and generosity of those who have gone before us. The contributions others have made to build community and culture enriches our lives and creates experiences that otherwise would not be possible. The vitality of WASO is created by the musicians, audience, professional staff, Patrons and Friends, corporate sponsors and volunteers. WASO is the musical icon it is because of the collective skill, effort and vision of its past and current contributors.
We learn to take turns in kindergarten. It is now my turn to contribute to WASO as others have contributed before me. It is my turn to be more than an audience member and volunteer – to do more than enjoy WASO. It is my turn to repay the debt I owe to those who have made WASO the inspiration it is. By making a bequest I hope I create for future music lovers, what others have created for me."

WASO Violist & Former WASO Principal Percussionist
"WASO has played an enormous part in our lives, both professionally and personally, and we want to do what we can to ensure the ongoing viability of WASO, so that future generations of Western Australians can continue to have their lives enriched by the Orchestra. To this end, we have decided to include a bequest in our wills to benefit WASO.
The Orchestra’s musicians very much appreciate their wonderful audiences, and we are doubly grateful to those who contribute over and above the cost of tickets. Their generous support makes it possible for the Orchestra not only to serve the Western Australian community by presenting a variety of extraordinary concerts, but also to nurture a life-long love of music in individuals of all ages and backgrounds through innovative education and community engagement programs.
At the heart of this generosity are those who have made the thoughtful decision to include the West Australian Symphony Orchestra as part of their estate planning. We hope you will consider joining us by remembering WASO in your will."
