Ahead of next weekend’s Lotterywest Christmas Spectacular concerts at RAC Arena, we caught up with sopranos Amy Manford and Samantha Clarke to chat all things Christmas.

What does a typical Christmas Day look like for you?

Amy - I wake up early and open presents with the family. I always like to find the most random present for my sister - one year I got my face printed on m&m’s (obviously something she has always wanted). We then have a huge Christmas lunch, go for a swim and watch a movie.

Samantha - A typical Christmas Day for me starts with a swim down at the beach with family, opening up presents and then frantically getting prepped for Christmas lunch because in true form we leave it till the last minute. I love finishing up late afternoon and having a nap after eating way too much followed by catching up with friends for a Christmas drink in the evening!

Do you have a favourite Christmas song?

Amy - Santa Baby or I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas.

Samantha - I would say my favourite fun Christmas song would be Santa Baby which is why I am so excited to be singing that in Christmas Spectacular and I also love Oh Holy Night, it gives me tingles every time.

What do you love about performing with WASO?

Amy - Everything! Everyone is so lovely and supportive. I feel extremely lucky to perform on stage with such talented musicians.

Samantha - This will be my debut with WASO but I am so looking forward to singing with a world class orchestra on my home turf. I have watched a few WASO concerts and I think the orchestra plays so beautifully together and are so exciting to listen to. I also love WASO programming.
