Neville Talbot

Pre-concert Speaker

Neville’s career has been diverse, with on-stage work with three of WA’s flagship performing arts companies – the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, WA Opera, and WA Ballet as a percussionist, actor, and singer.

Neville founded/managed one of Australia’s most successful chamber music groups, Tetrafide Percussion. Tetrafide’s work included multiple national and international tours, including head-lining festivals around the world (USA, Europe, India, China, Canada), representing Australia at two world expos, and working for Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) around the world. They were invited to create a new show for Cirque du Soleil, the first ensemble to do so.

He moved to Albany in 2015 to spend more time with his young family. His teaching career in classroom, voice, percussion, and ensembles netted him the Regional Teacher of the year award in 2017.

Due to some serious wrist injuries, Neville’s focus has shifted to conducting and producing. He has prepared choruses for Opera Australia, WA Opera, and other companies. He was the inaugural Artistic Director for the Albany Sinfonia and recently won a Regional Arts Australia grant to build a pilot program for training regional conductors in the community music sector. He recently finished his first production credit, a sold-out season of The Pirates of Penzance.
