Devon Lake
Baritone
Devon Lake is an emerging operatic baritone from Perth, where he graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. As a student, he built a reputation as a versatile and dynamic performer through a series of leading roles across WAAPA’s operatic seasons, with principal credits including title roles in Jonathan Dove’s Enchanted Pig (2023) and Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi (2025), as well as Count Almaviva in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro (2024) and Baron de Pictordu in Pauline Viardot’s Cendrillon (2025).
In 2025 he received the Richard Gill Award, given to WAAPA’s most outstanding graduating classical performance student, and in 2026–27 he will join the West Australian Opera Wesfarmers Young Artist Program.
Devon’s concert experience has already included featured solo appearances in the Perth Rotary Vienna Pops New Year’s Eve Gala at the Perth Concert Hall (2020, 2021, 2023), as well as Christmas at the Quarry and Melting Moments (Freeze Frame Opera) and other community events. As an oratorio soloist he has sung Bach’s Mass in G major (2024) and Mozart’s Requiem (2025), both for the UWA Choral Society. His musical collaborations in Perth also include OpusWA Arts Orchestra and Chorale.
