Boost your students’ confidence with this engaging, curriculum-aligned concert, carefully designed to support secondary music students in their studies and exam preparation.

Presented by Dr Ashley Smith and conducted by John Keene, NextGen will explore the 2027 ATAR set works through clear discussion and live excerpts performed by WASO and UWA music students.

In this special concert tailored specifically for schools, your students will discover how Howard Shore’s Oscar®-winning music brought Tolkien’s vast and sprawling world to life and became an unforgettable element of Peter Jackson’s beloved films.

With musical demonstrations performed live by WASO and insightful commentary by the hosts of the popular Art of the Score podcast, this immersive excursion is perfect for both music and film students.

Throughout the year, WASO's small ensembles visit primary schools around WA, introducing young learners to the instruments and musicians of the orchestra.

In these 45-minute incursion concerts, students will enjoy musical excerpts and hear directly from the players, gaining insight into the life of a professional musician. 

WASO’s Harmony Music Program brings small ensembles into Education Support Centres, allowing students who require extra learning support to experience live music in a comfortable environment. In these relaxed concerts, students will learn about different orchestral instruments through a 30-minute program of fun and familiar music.
