Artist Development

Emerging Conductors Program

Supported by the Simon Lee Foundation

Every year the West Australian Symphony Orchestra nurtures a new generation of young and emerging artists, assisting them in finding their pathway into the profession and helping to secure a bright future for music in Australia.

Our Emerging Conductors Program is part of WASO’s Young & Emerging Artist Program which identifies, supports and promotes talented young Australian musicians. This position provides a rare opportunity for talented, aspiring conductors to gain coveted experience working with WASO’s Assistant Conductor and gain access to WASO rehearsals and concerts.

2022 EMERGING CONDUCTORS PROGRAM

Applications for our 2022 program are now close.

The successful applicants will enjoy conducting workshops and seminars throughout the year, led and mentored by WASO’s Assistant Conductor, Jen Winley and other guest artists and speakers. They will also be offered access to WASO concerts and rehearsals and observe the Assistant Conductor’s workshops with Principal Conductor Asher Fisch. It is expected that up to five musicians may be selected for participation in this program in 2022.

The Emerging Conductors Program is supported by the Simon Lee Foundation, which aspires to build an alumni body of young artists that can connect, create and support each other.
