What’s the best transport?
If I’m driving, where can I park?
Street parking is very limited on event day due road closures in place around the event area. We recommend you take public transport but if you feel you need to drive in, parking is available at:
- City of Perth Terrace Road carpark – 400m/4minute walk
- City of Perth, Perth Concert Hall carpark – 400m/4 minute walk
- City of Perth, Fire station carpark – 600m/7 minute walk
What time does it start?
Pre-show entertainment commences from 5pm with the main concert from 7pm, concluding approximately 9pm. Families are invited to bring a picnic from 5pm when there will be free face painting and balloon artistry on site.
What should I expect?
Christmas Symphony is a free, family event with something for everybody. The program will feature a complete program of classical music hits along with everyone’s favourite Christmas carols. Pre-show entertainment includes face painters, balloon twisters and performances by Variety WA scholarship winners.
What do I bring?
Families are encouraged to bring their own picnic to enjoy with the concert. Food trucks will be available on site if you would rather purchase food or drink. Chairs and picnic rugs are welcome; please take note of the signs on arrival as we have designated areas for chairs to make sure everyone has the best view of the stage. We are expecting large crowds so please be considerate and make sure all chairs are on your picnic rug to leave space for others. Don’t forget hats, sunscreen and lots of Christmas cheer!

What should I leave at home?

Can I bring my dog?
Please leave your dogs at home as there will be fireworks at this event. Assistance dogs are allowed.
What happens if my child is lost at the event?
Please proceed to the information tent, located on the Terrace Road side of the venue; they will be able to assist.
Where are the toilets?
Toilets are available along the river side of the venue
Is the event wheelchair accessible?
There is a clearly marked area set aside for patrons with wheelchairs. This is located at the rear of the ‘low chair’ seating area for patrons and their families.
ACROD parking is located adjacent to Langley Park, opposite the Toccata building (88 Terrace Road).
These bays will be monitored by security staff to ensure that they are only used for patrons with access needs.
Is the event AUSLAN interpreted?
The event will feature AUSLAN interpretation, provided by Access Plus WA. This will be provided live and broadcast on the large format event screens.
Where might I find lost property?
All lost property can be handed in at the information tent, located on the Terrace Road side of the venue.
How do I access First Aid?
If you require first aid please proceed to the information tent located on the Terrace Road side of the venue.
When are the fireworks?
During the performance of the 1812 Overture commencing between 8:45pm – 9pm theatrical pyrotechnics will be in use. This will occur in three short bursts over a five minute period. Following the 1812 Overture there will be an encore will an aerial fireworks display launched from the Swan River.
Where are the road closures and when do they happen?
To allow safe access and egress to the venue the following road and parking closures will be in place on Saturday 14 December 2019.
