Music For The Ages

Sharing the joy of music

Our Music for the Ages program has been specifically designed to reach older adults unable to attend a symphony orchestra concert or rehearsal. Providing engaging chamber ensemble performances in Nursing Homes and Aged Care settings, WASO musicians visit residents with a variety of musical treats that take audiences on a journey of music through the ages. Each concert is 45 minutes long with a quartet or quintet from the orchestra, and is free of charge.

We have many residents with moderate cognitive impairment (and higher) who remained seated and attentive throughout the concert. They reacted with smiles, clapping and even some tears (Moon River provoked some beloved memories for at least one of our residents), and many spoke of their enjoyment of the music following the performance.
