Composition Project
Nurturing the next generation of composers

WASO’s Composition Project is Western Australia’s preeminent professional development program for emerging Western Australian composers. Up to four composers are mentored by the program’s Artistic Director, James Ledger, and through a series of workshops and rehearsals with WASO musicians, compose a new work for 14-piece chamber ensemble. These works are premiered by WASO in a public showcase and the most outstanding composer is awarded the Bendat Family Foundation (WASO) Scholarship and commissioned to write a new work to be premiered by WASO.
The Composition Project has helped previous participants successfully gain placement in national and international composition programs, post-graduate studies and secure professional commissions and residencies.
Composition Project is supported by the Bendat Family Foundation.
