Graeme first performed with WASO as Guest Concertmaster during the 2014 season and currently holds the position of Principal 1st Violin. During the 2015/16 seasons, Graeme acted in the role of Associate Concertmaster.
Previous positions have included Associate Concertmaster with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Sub-Principal 2nd Violin with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO). Graeme occasionally returns to play with the MPO as a Guest Principal.
Born in Melbourne, Graeme graduated with a Bachelor of Music Performance from the Victorian College of the Arts and spent two years on full scholarship at the Australian National Academy of Music. His principal teachers were Alice Waten and Julian Quirit.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Graeme has performed in Australia, New Zealand and throughout much of Asia. He has directed ensembles in the Melbourne and Adelaide Festivals and appeared as a member and soloist with the Malaysian Philharmonic Chamber Players.
As a teacher, Graeme has previously held positions at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide and as a faculty member of the Adelaide Youth Orchestra and the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO). Graeme’s students have won numerous prizes and taken part in summer schools in North America and Europe. His students include two Concertmasters of the MPYO and principal players in the Australian and Asian Youth Orchestras.
