Mozart’s Gran Partita is a masterpiece. An astonishing work for 13 virtuoso musicians written for winds and double bass, it featured in the 1984 film Amadeus and stands at the pinnacle of classical chamber music. Along with Telemann’s charming Duo, this program showcases WASO’s magnificent woodwind players.
Widely regarded as the finest music from the Baroque period, Bach’s Brandenburg Concerti are unsurprisingly popular. Concertmaster Giulio Plotino performs a glorious movement of Bach’s Partita followed by a thrilling concerto for four violins, and finally a sublime work from the ingenious Handel. This is a concert to leave you uplifted.
