Section Principal Viola

The West Australian Symphony Orchestra is a full-time ensemble of 82 musicians based in Perth, Western Australia.  As the state's premier arts company, the orchestra performs its major concerts in the exceptional acoustic of the Perth Concert Hall.  The orchestra also performs with the West Australian Ballet and Opera companies and has highly acclaimed educational, regional, talent and audience development programs.

WASO is seeking an outstanding player for the position of Section Principal Viola.

This position is open to candidates of all nationalities.

WASO is calling for recorded auditions only for the position of Section Principal Viola. The intention is to identify a small number of successful candidates from the audition who will each be offered a short (2 week) pre-trial as Guest Principal Viola with WASO, during which time they will be asked to perform a live audition. 

Applications and recordings need to be received by the closing date, Friday 3 August 2018

Audition requirements are:

Either HOFFMEISTER Viola Concerto in D Major or STAMITZ Viola Concert in D Major - 1st movement including cadenza

One of the following Viola Concertos: BARTOK, HINDEMITH (Der Schwanendreher) or WALTON - 1st movement
