The West Australian Symphony Orchestra is a full-time ensemble of 82 musicians based in Perth, Western Australia. As the state's premier arts company the orchestra performs its major concerts in the exceptional acoustic of the Perth Concert Hall. The orchestra also performs with the West Australian Ballet and Opera companies and has highly developed educational, regional, talent development and audience development programs.

WASO is calling for Expressions of Interest for the position of Section Principal Oboe. The following must be included with the Expression of Interest:

• A current CV with two referees
• A professional quality recording of the applicant of the following material:

1. Mozart Oboe Concerto in C major, K. 314 – 1st movement with cadenza. (Must have piano accompaniment)
2. Orchestral excerpts – available here

Shortlisted candidates may be invited to Perth (at WASO’s expense) to perform a short period as Guest Principal Oboe, during which time they will be asked to perform a full audition.

This position is open to all applicants of all nationalities.

Audition requirements are:

1. Mozart Horn Concerto No.3 in Eb major, K.447 - 1st movement (with cadenza)
2. Neuling Bagatelle for Horn and Piano
